We have all seen the innocuous hotel brand standards hotel management are required to put in place. Those that have brand standards set by their overseas head offices can have a particularly hard time filling the requirement. After all part of these standards are set so the guest has a similar and good experience staying in the same companies different properties no matter the location.

Guests do expect and like to look forward to those little luxuries they experience in another of the companies properties albeit through the differentiated services and amenities. Bathrooms are of particular importance and high on guest expectations be it the spa bath, the marble finish or the lighted magnifying mirror. These types of bathroom amenities provide a bold statement and provoke a feeling of luxury. Never forget your guest pays a lot of money to get the experience after all their expectation is the high standard that matches the online images your company site provides. Often the experience is a little less with facilities found to be below par resulting with the guest being less than happy.

For those that stay regularly in the same properties showing them the hotel really cares by changing things up or around or perhaps giving them several options to choose a room type, view or size that is perfect for them.

As a supplier we do get a lot of feedback when it comes to the same items we sell to the accommodation sector. We were struck recently by one comment from a lady who had stayed at a 5 star Hotel in Melbourne with the conversation coming around to magnifying mirrors. Her comment was “only nice hotels have magnifying mirrors.” It turns out she had a magnifying mirror at home.

Hotels work really hard at providing a home away from home with extras type of experience, it’s what brings the guest back to the same property time and again. From our perspective and asking our clients for marketing purpose over 15 years why do they use or want a magnifying mirror? It would seem the accommodation business is missing the market.

A nicely appointed and clean bathroom is paramount and unexpected wall mounted lighted magnifying mirror is a pure delight for the ladies a sort of voyage of discovery if you will and something different but very practical for men. This is just one of many things that properties can do to give their property a small but noted and welcomed change by each guest.

The magnifying mirror is an item purely for the guest and great fun to use, practical as the iron and the kettle which are no fun to use. It becomes a delight for those ladies who have not had the opportunity to use a mirror like this before. There are very few men who would own up to using a magnifying mirror however they do look a lot better when checking how the shaving went that morning and for those that wear glasses well it’s now become a whole new world.

At last we have the new LED 5X Rectangle Wall Mounted Magnifying Mirror and the Double Sided LED 8X wall mounted in stock and on sales.

Hi it’s Bill with some fantastic news on the latest shipment of magnifying mirrors from Jerdon we have been waiting so long for. The LED HL88C wall mounted LED double side 8x magnifying mirror is at last back into stock. This shipment is the chrome finish; plug in model the direct wire version will be in the November shipment. These mirrors have been specifically manufactured for Australia 240 volt and 3 pin plug and come fully tested and certificated with SAA and C TICK.

In this shipment we have a brand new rectangular wall mount mirror that has a LED halo light.

Such a modern and a great alternative to those looking for something different in style for their new built bathroom.

The JRT710C looks very much different than anything else on the market here in Australia. The wall mounting plate has a small look with the on and off switch is in an easy to operate location. Of course the its been made rectangle to match the glass size and if your are asking the glass size is 16.5cm (6 inches) wide and 22.5cm (9 inches ) high. A single sided 5x magnifying mirror with a soft halo light will show your face in a shadow free situation allowing you to put your make up perfectly without your glasses.

This mirror uses LED globes which are super long lasting and use very little power. To Jerdon’s credit they have worked extensively to have the LED color become more sympathetic with your complexion. You might recall in my previous posts many of the LED mirrors available have a harsh white light which gives you a false color and you may apply makeup that’s does not work for you at all. It’s one of the reasons why our HL7 halo series have been so popular because it uses incandescent light which shows your complexion in the most natural look.

For those who require dimensions the double extending arms for movement in and out from the wall the mirror will extend to 39cm or (15.5 inches). The overall depth measurement after the mirror is folded back completely on the wall for those who wish to mount the mirrors inside a cabinet is 31/2inches (90mm). If the whole unit is to be mounted inside a cabinet which seems popular these days the overall dimensions are H 270mm x W 210mm x D 90mm.

For those focused on the base plate dimensions it is H 130mm X W 67mm X D 22mm

I must say even though this mirror appears fragile it really is a very strongly constructed mirror. The natural edge glass only appears that way from the front; the steel body at the rear of the mirror finishes 5mm from the edge giving the halo mirror the appearance of natural edge. All the knuckle joints are adjustable so there can be a smooth action when folding out to your customer’s desired position.

To tilt or move the mirror around there is a very hand guiding rod on the bottom and at the back of the mirror so all movement can be done without having to touch the mirror.

At this stage the mirror is only available as a plug in model and only in chrome and future shipments will see it land in direct wire format.

Hope you have enjoyed this update

Thanks

Bill

Today’s post is about our 2028 scissor arm magnifying mirror a curious but ever so popular model. The design of this scissor arm magnifying mirror has been around for many years and reminds us of something you would find in a grand old hotel in the 1920’s. The standout design feature of this mirror is the scissor arm action that allows it to extend out from the wall.

This wall mounted model will extend out from the wall further than any other model on the market and with a reach of 60cm. The wall mount bracket has sufficient strength also to allow the mirror to move or swing from left to right 180 degrees. To add to the versatility the mirror itself is double sided and by simply turning the mirror itself you can have either 4x magnification to get close up on what you’re doing or 1x to just check everything is in order before you leave.

In terms of a space requirement the scissor arm magnifying mirror will fold back flat against the wall with the overall dimensions being 41cm high and 235cm. These are the highest and widest points.

To mount this scissor arm magnifying mirror on the wall is very easy with just two screws that are provided.

These can be screwed directly into the timber stud behind the plaster or screw straight into the plugs on a tiled surface.

Currently the 2028c is available in both Chrome and Gold finish both are durable easy to clean surfaces with the mirror made from steel and the surfaces are a plated finish.

Words of warning when selling the mirror to your customers, to remind them do not mount the mirror inside the shower cubicle. The mirror is made from glass and a real chance of shattering should hot water hit the surface or they slip and grab for the mirror on instinct. Not only that the metal scissor are will rust. Chrome, Gold, or Brass plating will not prevent steel from rusting.

In terms of maintenance there is no real things you need to do with regards to the scissor arm action as each joint operated on a fitted rivet and the remaining surfaces that move have a nylon glide. The only thing can do is keep you mirror nice and clean which can be done with a soft rag.

The 2028 Scissor Arm magnifying mirror is a quality buy and should last a lifetime.

Team JK

Today’s post on the scorch guard ironing board cover will be of interest to many of the hotels out there, as its getting harder to find a cover scorch guard cover these days that fits the hotel quality ironing boards. The actual reference details are not up on the main site just yet however that will be completed in the next few days.

There are two different models of the scorch guard ironing board cover.

Both are identical in manufacture except for the size. The M11 cover is made to fit a variety of board sizes and the biggest the M11 will fit is 35cm wide and length of 120cm long. It will stretch slightly further if you have a funny size board like 122cm long.

The S11 cover has been specifically made to fit our own manufactureYJ288 ironing board. This cover will fit a variety of boards also, although the dimensions are really for hotel compact boards. Dimensions for the S11 are 33cm wide and 104cm long.

Bother covers have been made with a 5mm foam padding which has been sewn into the lining meaning the foam padding will not move about and look untidy by hanging out at the edges. It also eliminates having to buy a separate foam or felt padding to put underneath the cover.

These scorch guard covers have elasticized edges so the cover will slip on easy and stay there and we added the draw sting for those who like to have a tight cover in place that does not move. The term scorch guard means that the surface of the cover will not burn easily this is because the material is impregnated with aluminium which gives it that metallic look and makes the surface tough. The scorch guard ironing board cover only comes in the sliver grey colour which fits the décor of most hotels.

Finally these covers come in cartons of 20 although we believe your hospitality provider will sell smaller quantities. So if you’re looking for a quality scorch guard ironing board cover then look no further.

Team JK

Hi everyone, today’s post is about the MC449 magnifying vanity mirror, a very clever vanity mirror which doubles as a travel mirror also. These are all good points you can raise with your customer who is interested in this type of mirror. There are those who will buy a wall mounted mirror and then purchase a second mirror like the MC449 magnifying vanity mirror to use just when traveling.

This wonderful MC449 magnifying vanity mirror has many ladies who like to get value from a decent size mirror when they travel, get very excited.

With a large 14cm diameter mirror and doubled sided magnification being 10x and 1 x it covers the best of both worlds. Meaning to apply makeup insert contact lenses the 10x magnification is in valuable mostly because you can see nearly all of your face without having to move around and to have a quick check that your hair is all in order just flip over to the normal 1x side of the mirror.

This magnifying Vanity and travel mirror fulfils both roles beautifully simply because of its design. The stand for the mirror can be set in any position to catch the light or get just the right angle. It can be set high or low in any fashion through the design of the foot on the mirror. Likely the very best part about this MC449 mirror is it can fold down flat and be put in its accompanying velvet bag and be taken with you on holidays.

There never or rarely anyway, seems to be the right mirror to use when you stay somewhere different than your own home. Whilst there are other options on the market most of them you need to hold onto with one hand or they don’t fold down or worse still you need to suction them on the wall – they fall down, they leave a mark on the wall or you just forget to take it when you leave.

The MC449 magnifying vanity mirror has a nickel finish and if you have not seen this before it looks like brushed stainless steel. The redeeming quality of the nickel finish is it does not show fingermarks. That makes it easily to clean. The size when folded down into the velvet bag is perfect and becomes neat and easy to pack in your luggage without taking up to much room.

I know we have spoken about this magnifying mirror as great for traveling but it is not out of place on your vanity at home, should your vanity be crowded, then the mirror can be folded down, or folded up and put away in the drawer.

Use the points on the MC449 magnifying vanity mirror when helping your customer to make a decision.

In today’s post we will cover all the points on the direct wired HL8 some people call it hard wired lighted wall mounted magnifying mirror. This is the only model in our range that has been specifically manufactured as a direct wired model. To explain direct wire or hard wired depends what side of the fence your from means that the mirror does not come with a curly cord that will plug into a nearby power point as with all the other mirrors. It’s manufactured so that cable that powers the light in the mirror, comes from the back of the wall plate and can be wired to the inside of the wall room wiring by an electrician making it completely concealed. This is what a hotel would do normally with these mirrors, except they are not worried about concealing the wiring as such but rather direct wire so it make the mirror harder to remove from the wall by some less than ideal guests.

We notice these day’s people are putting the direct wired model into their homes as a matter of style as a fixed piece in the bathroom. The one main question we get is how do you turn the light on and off? The on off switch is mounted on the backing plate and it’s a push button type for ease of use and easier to see.

The direct wired HL8 magnifying mirror is manufactured by Jerdon and is the Halo light design.

Halo light simply means the outer edge of the mirror is treated so it lets the light through in a gentle diffused manner. It uses a 15 watt incandescent warm white globe which has shown to give the best light on your face when using the mirror.

Lighting is most bathrooms is an issue as the position of the overhead light fittings either throws a shadow over you face or the light bounces of the standard wall mirror found in most bathrooms. Either way it makes it very difficult to do such things as put makeup on, pop your contact lenses in or attend to any eyelash issues. With the halo mirror its light reaches every part of your face including under your eyebrows through light coming on the face from every possible angle. If you have a dark bathroom then application of makeup can be difficult, this mirror will solve that issue forever.

There have been some questions about being able to replace the globe. The direct wired HL8 comes with a spare globe in the packaging and is still ready available in the lighting stores however Jksales carries spare at all times and because we have the mirror manufactured we can get all the globes we require. Under normal usage in your home we expect that the globes will last up to 3 years. Speaking of spare parts we also carry the spare mirrors to refit back into the housing should one get accidently broken.

The direct wired HL8 lighted magnifying mirror comes in 3x magnification in Chrome configuration only. For those who want to place the mirror inside a cupboard then the following dimensions maybe of use. The widest point when the mirror is folded back against the wall is 26cm Height 25cm and the depth when folded back as fare as it will go is 12cm.

Well we hope that will answer some of your questions for now on the direct wired HL8 model.

Today’s post covers the Steam Iron we have as part of the hospitality mix of products. On first seeing the iron, customers often think it’s a cheap and nasty however after closer examination you will soon see it’s a Steam Iron the Jerdon Company in the US have produced for the last 8 years with great success.

For a motel and the three and four star properties that want value for money, then the Jerdon SB5288B steam iron is hard to go past. Features like a Stainless sole plate do not mean much to anybody unless you work in the hospitality field. A stainless steel sole plate does not scratch easily; anything the guest burns on to the plate can polish or be cleaned off with ease. The same cannot be said for the Teflon coated models. Damaged scratched or burnt sole plates always bring guest complaints. They think it will mark their clothes.

Another unique feature on the Jerdon steam iron is the automatic cut out feature.

If the iron is left on by itself or left to long then the automatic cut out feature will turn the iron off. Generally you only see a more expensive iron with this feature. This function is seen as a safety device whereby if the iron is left motionless in a horizontal – meaning the ironing position, for 30 seconds then the electrical heating element will switch off. If the iron is left for 15 minutes in the vertical position then the same action happens, the heating element turns off. In both situations if the iron does turn off then all the guest is required to do is pick up or move the iron and the heating element will reactivate.

Those who work in hospitality will know that guests often leave the iron running when they leave the room in a rush to a meeting or trying to book out on time. When that happens the property has a fire hazard sitting there merrily overheating and also the energy bill continues to rise albeit just a little.

Over all dimensions for the steam iron are 28cm long and 11cm wide we mention these dimensions for those properties who like to store the iron in set position like in a draw or on a special shelf within the room. Some like to store in the upright position so the iron does leak if it has not been emptied out In fact this is a very good and recommended practice by Jerdon.

Other features with this quality but compact Jerdon steam iron is the variable controls available. The temperature dial on the iron is marked with fabrics rather than temperature. Linen or cotton, wool, silk or nylon so easy to set the right temperature for your clothes even a man could use it. Coupled with a steam control button which is a more or less arrangement and the steam and spray buttons are side by side.

At 1200 watts it is just the right power for a hospitality property as it does get the job done; the sole plate can get very hot. Guests often compare their larger more powerful iron at home to what the hotel has on offer however the two situations are very different as we don’t think many people would iron a basket of clothes in their hotel room. Generally the iron gets used for a couple items on one or two days so its work load is not over whelming.

The Jerdon SB 5288B steam iron is covered by a one year manufacturing materials and workmanship warranty; it does not cover irons that have fallen on the floor. An indicator that the iron has fallen on the floor in particular onto those tiled entrances, you will notice water will leak out of the iron uncontrollably when topped up ready iron.

Hopefully that has given you some good worthwhile information on our steam iron that you can use when you make your next sale.

Hello everyone today’s article is about our best lighted makeup mirror the NGLED410 that will sit on the vanity or at the very least make a great statement in anyone’s bathroom.

This lighted makeup mirror is special in many ways because of its duel power arrangement.

It will run on batteries, it can be plugged in and run of mains power and best of all it uses LED globes which consume very little power, and best of all never need replacing and quoted to last a lifetime.

If we think about that for a second your customer can purchase a mirror than can be cordless and used anywhere in the house. To do this there are 4 “C”size cells in the base of the mirror. It’s expected that with the LED globes that use 70% less energy and normal usage the batteries will last between 1 and 2 years which is not too hard on the pocket. Conversely your customer may just want to run the unit off mains power and for this JKSALES provides the external power adapter to do this.

The LED halo lighting on the mirror is very crisp bright and clean which makes makeup application or close attention to skin issues very easy. This mirror has the halo lighting on both sides, we should explain at this point that halo lighting refers to the out rim of the glass lights up when switched giving a lovely clean even glow on the face. The mirror pivots from a 10x magnification on one side and on the reverse side to the normal 1x view. This means you use the 10x for close up work and 1x to check you hair and makeup overall before you leave.

For those who recoil in horror the possibility of using a lighted makeup mirror with 10x magnification, be assured it’s the fastest growing magnification in demand. In the US they have found that 15x sales are moving strongly also. Should your customer have not seen a 10x magnified lighted makeup mirror before, they needed to be instructed that on average their face needs to be around 10cm or 4inches in the old language away from the mirror. Being to close or to far away then the image will appear distorted. From experience we can tell you once someone gets used to using a10x mirror poor eyesight or not they will never go back to anything else. Incidentally we have heard that these mirrors do go missing fortunately most of them turn up in the teenage daughter’s room!

The detail a 10x mirror offers is an attraction no one wants to give up especially when the mirror is being used for makeup or eye health issues such as oily eyelids or eyelash problems as is common with the older generation.

And just finally theNGLED410 magnified lighted makeup mirror has an overall height of 46cm with a base 14cm across making the mirror very stable and not that easy to knock over. It really looks the goods in terms of the build quality and the potential value or benefits it can offer your customers. If the customer has not experienced or seen a satin nickel finish before, then the best way to describe it is as a slightly polished stainless steel look with the best part being it does not show fingermarks like the chrome or gold mirrors do.

The packaging on the NGLED410 lighted makeup mirror is excellent but unfortunately will not fit in a 5kg express bag and so this mirror will always needed to freight by our shipping company Star Express.

Hi everyone just wanted to cover a few points about our hotel ironing board.

The JKSALES specified build ironing board was born out frustration stemming from the lightweight flimsy rocking boards that we see in many hotels. Our YJ288 ironing board came from hotels enquiring if there was something better after guest complaints about the flimsy ironing boards on offer.

JKSALES searched the market place and found nothing of any quality under $60.00 and so we decided to develop our own. It must have been a success as the competitors were quick to copy and came up short with a lightweight version that failed very quickly.

Good design and practicality was our aim, as hotels have to carry ironing boards as a necessity but find it hard to store somewhere in a room.

The YJ288 Ironing board was specifically manufactured to fit in the limited space in a hotel wardrobe hence the fold down height is only 107centimetres.

This means the board will fit under most shelves and hanging rails found inside a wardrobe that already has a space problem when you consider that where the guest room safe is also found.

An important component of achieving the compact size of this ironing board was making the iron holder on the end of the board retractable being a simple pull out push back action.

The compact length of this hotel ironing board can be attributed to the design of the legs in particular the right width of the legs that have been set up as 4 point arrangement that touches the floor. This arrangement prevents the board from being unsteady or get up the rocking movement when ironing. Without sacrificing the working height, the board can be adjusted to reach a maximum and comfortable 82cm ironing surface. To add stability we also specified the tubular material with one major difference than the cheap competitors that being the thickness of material used. This makes the legs rigid and adds weight to the board giving more stability to the ironing surface. A standard board weighs around the 3.5kg mark, the YJ288 weighs 5.8kg, we believe simply they will last longer.

To make the design workable, the ironing surface was made to be as full looking and useable as possible with 104cm length and 33cm width so your guests can iron that business shirt with ease having plenty of surface area to work on. That task is made easier by the padded scorch guard cover that has elasticized sides and a draw string to keep it neat and tidy at all times with the iron gliding smoothly other surface. Combined with the stylish quartz grey frame and the silver scorch guard cover this ironing board should fit in well with the décor found in hotels. As an added bonus it does not show any dirty marks that may get missed in the cleaning process unlike the white ironing boards generally found in many rooms.

Finally to finish up be aware that freight on these boards has to be price on application arrangement simply through weight and the various locations its to be sent to making it difficult to nominate a standard price. It will help should orders come through for these ironing boards in multiples of 3 seeing these that’s the carton quantity.

Hi everyone today’s post is more about answering some of the questions asked about our magnifying mirror range. It’s structured to be of some help to the sales person when asked questions by the customer.

One of the most common questions received by JKSALES staff is can you put the wall mounted mirrors in the shower? The customer generally phrases the question a different way by asking if the mirror rusts. The answer to the first question is no these mirrors should not be mounted in the shower. They are fitted with real glass that can shatter if hit with hot water. If someone slips in the shower they may reach for the mirror unconsciously to steady themselves and pull the mirror off the wall. Should the glass break then it may hit you on the top of the leg or foot with serious cuts resulting. The mirror will rust if gets wet everyday, as it’s manufactured from steel with a chrome, nickel or gold finish. In a standard situation where the mirror is located in a normally ventilated bathroom then damage to the surface finish does not become an issue.

Direct wired and hard wired mean the same thing for the Halo series mirror with the HL8 lighted magnifying mirror our only direct wired model. Direct wired means an electrician is required to wire the mirror into the power system of the house. Whilst on this point the HL7C/G and the HL75C are plug into power point models. The power lead in the photo on the brochure has been photo shopped out to make a cleaner image. All the halo mirrors have their own separate on/off switch to operate the light mounted on the base plate.

When looking at the brochures customers sometimes choose a mirror based on the look or colour of the image. When photographing mirrors, the reflective surfaces pick up the surrounding light and as a result the image looks a different colour than it actually is. The best guide we can give you is to look at the code and the last letter gives the mirror finish. All codes are printed beside the image on the brochure. For example 7808N meaning it’s a nickel finish conversely C for Chrome a G for Gold on other mirrors.

With the JKSALES mirror range there are many different magnifications to choose from between 3X to 15X. On the large magnifications such as the 10X or the 15X the customer needs to know that to use the mirror, their face needs to be around 10cm or 4 inches back from the mirror surface. This is so the face does not appear distorted but rather gives a clean close up of the face. These mirrors will show every pore or if there are eyelash issues then they become much larger and easy to see.

Finally for all the JKSALES magnifying mirrors we carry spare parts which cover everything from chrome and gold nuts, halo glass mirror for the 3x and 5x range, spare brackets even antifog glass cleaner to give your magnifying mirror that crystal clear finish.

Hopefully these few points will resolve the questions your customers might have on the range of both lighted and non lighted magnifying mirrors.
