We have all seen the innocuous hotel brand standards hotel management are required to put in place. Those that have brand standards set by their overseas head offices can have a particularly hard time filling the requirement. After all part of these standards are set so the guest has a similar and good experience staying in the same companies different properties no matter the location.

Guests do expect and like to look forward to those little luxuries they experience in another of the companies properties albeit through the differentiated services and amenities. Bathrooms are of particular importance and high on guest expectations be it the spa bath, the marble finish or the lighted magnifying mirror. These types of bathroom amenities provide a bold statement and provoke a feeling of luxury. Never forget your guest pays a lot of money to get the experience after all their expectation is the high standard that matches the online images your company site provides. Often the experience is a little less with facilities found to be below par resulting with the guest being less than happy.

For those that stay regularly in the same properties showing them the hotel really cares by changing things up or around or perhaps giving them several options to choose a room type, view or size that is perfect for them.

As a supplier we do get a lot of feedback when it comes to the same items we sell to the accommodation sector. We were struck recently by one comment from a lady who had stayed at a 5 star Hotel in Melbourne with the conversation coming around to magnifying mirrors. Her comment was “only nice hotels have magnifying mirrors.” It turns out she had a magnifying mirror at home.

Hotels work really hard at providing a home away from home with extras type of experience, it’s what brings the guest back to the same property time and again. From our perspective and asking our clients for marketing purpose over 15 years why do they use or want a magnifying mirror? It would seem the accommodation business is missing the market.

A nicely appointed and clean bathroom is paramount and unexpected wall mounted lighted magnifying mirror is a pure delight for the ladies a sort of voyage of discovery if you will and something different but very practical for men. This is just one of many things that properties can do to give their property a small but noted and welcomed change by each guest.

The magnifying mirror is an item purely for the guest and great fun to use, practical as the iron and the kettle which are no fun to use. It becomes a delight for those ladies who have not had the opportunity to use a mirror like this before. There are very few men who would own up to using a magnifying mirror however they do look a lot better when checking how the shaving went that morning and for those that wear glasses well it’s now become a whole new world.

Today’s post is about our 2028 scissor arm magnifying mirror a curious but ever so popular model. The design of this scissor arm magnifying mirror has been around for many years and reminds us of something you would find in a grand old hotel in the 1920’s. The standout design feature of this mirror is the scissor arm action that allows it to extend out from the wall.

This wall mounted model will extend out from the wall further than any other model on the market and with a reach of 60cm. The wall mount bracket has sufficient strength also to allow the mirror to move or swing from left to right 180 degrees. To add to the versatility the mirror itself is double sided and by simply turning the mirror itself you can have either 4x magnification to get close up on what you’re doing or 1x to just check everything is in order before you leave.

In terms of a space requirement the scissor arm magnifying mirror will fold back flat against the wall with the overall dimensions being 41cm high and 235cm. These are the highest and widest points.

To mount this scissor arm magnifying mirror on the wall is very easy with just two screws that are provided.

These can be screwed directly into the timber stud behind the plaster or screw straight into the plugs on a tiled surface.

Currently the 2028c is available in both Chrome and Gold finish both are durable easy to clean surfaces with the mirror made from steel and the surfaces are a plated finish.

Words of warning when selling the mirror to your customers, to remind them do not mount the mirror inside the shower cubicle. The mirror is made from glass and a real chance of shattering should hot water hit the surface or they slip and grab for the mirror on instinct. Not only that the metal scissor are will rust. Chrome, Gold, or Brass plating will not prevent steel from rusting.

In terms of maintenance there is no real things you need to do with regards to the scissor arm action as each joint operated on a fitted rivet and the remaining surfaces that move have a nylon glide. The only thing can do is keep you mirror nice and clean which can be done with a soft rag.

The 2028 Scissor Arm magnifying mirror is a quality buy and should last a lifetime.

In today’s post we will cover all the points on the direct wired HL8 some people call it hard wired lighted wall mounted magnifying mirror. This is the only model in our range that has been specifically manufactured as a direct wired model. To explain direct wire or hard wired depends what side of the fence your from means that the mirror does not come with a curly cord that will plug into a nearby power point as with all the other mirrors. It’s manufactured so that cable that powers the light in the mirror, comes from the back of the wall plate and can be wired to the inside of the wall room wiring by an electrician making it completely concealed. This is what a hotel would do normally with these mirrors, except they are not worried about concealing the wiring as such but rather direct wire so it make the mirror harder to remove from the wall by some less than ideal guests.

We notice these day’s people are putting the direct wired model into their homes as a matter of style as a fixed piece in the bathroom. The one main question we get is how do you turn the light on and off? The on off switch is mounted on the backing plate and it’s a push button type for ease of use and easier to see.

The direct wired HL8 magnifying mirror is manufactured by Jerdon and is the Halo light design.

Halo light simply means the outer edge of the mirror is treated so it lets the light through in a gentle diffused manner. It uses a 15 watt incandescent warm white globe which has shown to give the best light on your face when using the mirror.

Lighting is most bathrooms is an issue as the position of the overhead light fittings either throws a shadow over you face or the light bounces of the standard wall mirror found in most bathrooms. Either way it makes it very difficult to do such things as put makeup on, pop your contact lenses in or attend to any eyelash issues. With the halo mirror its light reaches every part of your face including under your eyebrows through light coming on the face from every possible angle. If you have a dark bathroom then application of makeup can be difficult, this mirror will solve that issue forever.

There have been some questions about being able to replace the globe. The direct wired HL8 comes with a spare globe in the packaging and is still ready available in the lighting stores however Jksales carries spare at all times and because we have the mirror manufactured we can get all the globes we require. Under normal usage in your home we expect that the globes will last up to 3 years. Speaking of spare parts we also carry the spare mirrors to refit back into the housing should one get accidently broken.

The direct wired HL8 lighted magnifying mirror comes in 3x magnification in Chrome configuration only. For those who want to place the mirror inside a cupboard then the following dimensions maybe of use. The widest point when the mirror is folded back against the wall is 26cm Height 25cm and the depth when folded back as fare as it will go is 12cm.

Well we hope that will answer some of your questions for now on the direct wired HL8 model.
